Top 10 Inspiring Dynamic Website Design Examples
BLOG / Web Design 5 April 2023
Back in the day, the percentage of static websites was very high as that was the only way to make them. But with the introduction of content management systems (CMS) and new technologies, the share of static websites has reduced! According to W3techs, only 1.8% of all public websites are now static files. This means that 98.2% of the digital domains have a dynamic website design!
So, even if you don’t know what a dynamic website is, there’s a high chance you visit such websites every day! In fact, you are reading this article on a dynamic website itself!
And if you still don’t have a clue about the meaning of static or dynamic website design, then no need to worry!
Today, we will take an in-depth look at both types of web designs along with 10 great websites that use a dynamic website design.
Dynamic website design vs. Static website design
On the surface, dynamic and static websites may look the same in terms of appearance. But when it comes to functionality, there are a lot of differences!
In terms of costs, usability, SEO, and efficiency, both types come with their own advantages and disadvantages.
So, let’s get familiarized with a dynamic website design first, then move to the static website design.
Dynamic website design – explained
what is a dynamic website design?
A dynamic website is one that shows different content to different users and is usually built in PHP, ASP.NET, and AJAX. Basically, any website that allows users to interact with it is a dynamic website.
Accordingly, a dynamic website design is a process of creating visual guidelines and implementing them in coming up with an interactive website layout.
For example, websites that show stock prices or weather updates are dynamic websites. Similarly, famous websites and platforms such as YouTube and Facebook are also dynamic as they show personalized and unique content to the users.
Now, if we talk about the market share of dynamic websites, well, they are in the overwhelming majority! For starters, WordPress is a popular CMS that powers 43.25% of all websites.
And just like WordPress, any website that is built using a CMS will fundamentally be dynamic!
This raises the question: why are dynamic websites so popular among webmasters? To understand it, take a look at some of the benefits:
- They offer a higher degree of functionality to the users
- They are interactive and change their content based on the user
- They are easy to update and maintain. In fact, even someone with no coding experience can update a dynamic website
- They look more professional and aesthetically pleasing when compared with a static web design
- They contribute towards a better user experience
Static website design – explained
What is static website design?
A static website shows the same content to every user and doesn’t offer any interactivity. A static website design can be built using HTML and CSS. This means that it’s much easier and quicker to build static websites! In addition, It doesn’t offer any functionality or leave room for interactions from the user.
Examples of static websites would include Vimeo, Flickr, and SoundCloud. Around a decade ago, most websites were built with a static design, but that’s no longer the case.
As mentioned earlier, the market share of static websites is now only close to 1.8% & is only expected to decrease further!
However, that’s not to say that there are no benefits to using a static website design… We have listed some of the benefits associated with static website design:
- They are cost-effective and easy to set up
- These websites do not use a database and thus are not prone to hacking attempts
- They load faster than dynamic websites since they mostly use HTML and CSS only.
- The content is actually present on the pages instead of being pulled from a database, which also improves speed
- These websites can be easily transferred between different servers due to their small size
Comparison of dynamic websites and static websites
Now that you understand the difference between a dynamic and a static website design, let’s take a moment to compare these two:

Top 10 websites with a dynamic website design
Dynamic websites offer a higher degree of functionality which ultimately leads to a better user experience! Not to mention, the majority of the websites found online are built with a dynamic design!
All of these benefits point towards one thing – You should also use a dynamic website design for your next project!
The dysfunctions mentioned earlier can easily be compensated for by having an in-house developer who can spot and fix bugs before they even make a small disruption to the digital users’ experiences!
And to help you get some good ideas, we are going to look at the top 10 websites that use dynamic designs:
YouTube
We will start the list with YouTube, which is the world’s 1st video website.
YouTube also serves as a search engine for videos and is, unsurprisingly, the 1st in that category as well.
If a user from Canada opens the YouTube homepage, it will show videos based on their preference as well as videos that are popular in Canada.
Similarly, when someone from the US opens the YouTube homepage, they will be shown different videos!
In fact, two people from the same country or exact IP address will be shown different videos based on their search history and preferences.
The content on the YouTube website can change depending on the following factors:
- User’s physical location
- Popular videos in the specific location
- User’s search history
- Search filters set by the user
Apps
Apps is a highly interactive dynamic website that takes you through the different steps involved in cider making.
One of the best things about this website is that it incorporates sound, video animations, and input from the user!
After verifying age and clicking on start, the action similar to the cider-making process starts…
The user is asked by the website to press the “A” button – Upon pressing the button, an apple falls from the branch. After this step, the user is asked to keep various keys which then shows the next step in the cider-making process.
Throughout the whole process, the user never gets bored as the website retains their attention through a lot of interactivity!
Basically, it is a classic example of what you can achieve through a dynamic website design.
And if you look at the static websites, you can’t even dream of adding even one component of the Apps homepage!
Cyclemon
Cyclemon is a french website that holds an interesting dynamic website design.
At the start, the website requires a few seconds to fully load. And that’s when the fun starts!
A visitor can scroll down on the Cyclemon website to see different identities paired with different bike designs, such as night rider, traveler, hipster, and so on.
Upon the user’s input (scroll down), the content of the website changes dynamically, but the best part is most definitely the parallax scrolling!
Once the user scrolls down, the background and the bike model change, which gives a feeling of traveling to different places on a bike.
This is an interesting example of how a dynamic website design can be used to sell something as simple as posters… Yes, it is a website that sells posters and not bicycles!
Off the Grid | Gucci
Off the Grid is a part of Gucci’s website; it emphasizes how the company uses sustainable and recycled materials for making fashionable products.
Once the website is loaded, the first thing that catches the user’s attention is the background.
It appears as if the boxes in the background are shaking, giving an illusion of how things can look blurry during a hot day in the desert…
This is actually intentional and is meant to remind us of rising temperatures due to climate change!
Another interesting feature is the small circle mouse effect; it’s a feature that aims to catch up the user’s attention & invite moving their cursor.
Upon clicking the start button, the user is met with a fully immersive experience. Sounds, animation, and an interactive quick is the classic hallmark of this webpage!
For someone looking for design inspiration, there’s a thing or two to learn from Off the Grid! It has picked a rather dry subject and turned it into an interactive game that demands the user’s input and attention!
Ventusky
Ventusky is a very interesting dynamic website that provides wind, temperature, and rain maps.
The header of this website presents the logo along with a search bar to navigate maps of different locations.
The primary navigation contains links to settings, apps, and other important links.
If you look at the Ventusky website, you will notice that there’s a lot happening on the website in real time! It shows the wind flowing through different areas and changing direction. Similarly, the temperature also continues to change in real-time and is represented with different changing colors.
On the left side, there are several buttons through which additional maps can be viewed by the user.
Once again, the content on the Ventusky changes with input from the user!
Investing
Investing.com is a leading source for stocks, currencies, and other market quotes. When compared with other dynamic designs mentioned on this page, this one may look simple.
However, it is still highly effective and a fully functional website design that changes in real time.
On the right sidebar, it shows charts and price movements of different financial securities. Every time a stock moves up or down, it is signified by green or red color.
In addition, the price mentioned next to the financial security also changes on the page without reloading.
As you scroll down, the homepage also contains an economic calendar that can show the results of the latest fundamental data without reloading!
The NYT
The New York Times is a famous news website that tells us what’s happening in the USA and the rest of the world!
It is a big news website and, as such, gets updated on a minute-by-minute basis. Being updated so frequently means that the website’s homepage also changes a lot!
To ensure that newly published articles are shown on the homepage, this website uses the server-side programming language JavaScript. With the help of JavaScript, new articles are added dynamically!
Now, if this website was built on a static website design approach, it would mean that web designers would have to edit the NY Times homepage source code every few minutes to show the latest articles!
Propel
The 8th design on our list is the Propel homepage; the latter’s a platform that helps companies hire talent from tech ecosystems through its Cloud as a Service (CaaS) platform.
However, we are a little interested in what the website does and more about its design..!
Upon scrolling down, the top blue color drops down and informs the user about different brands working with Propel.
As you continue to view the rest of the page, different elements of the page will animate to elevate and enhance the user experience.
Keeping the brand name “Propel” in mind, it seems that the whole webpage is just ready to propel itself upwards!
Just like the other dynamic website designs, the Propel homepage is also dynamic as it shows different animations upon the user’s action.
The Cool Club
The Cool Club website specializes in wall art and various card games. The header contains the company’s logo which is a plain text, along with primary pages.
And both the logo & the navigation menu come with cool hovering effects, which adds a nice touch to the website.
The highlight of this website is most definitely the box from which different cards come out. Every time the homepage is reloaded, different cards will come from the card packaging!
In addition, the card packaging also animates and shakes as you move the cursor on the webpage.
As you scroll down, different products (wall art) appear as if they are art pieces hanging on an actual wall.
Once again, the website uses its main product line very beautifully and turns it into a feature of the website.
Hi Fly
Hi Fly is in the business of airplane charters and brilliantly tells this through its dynamic homepage.
Upon first loading the homepage, clouds animation appears, and a plane comes out of nowhere on your screen.
This is followed by a CTA button that takes the users to another page where they can obtain more information about the fleet.
Overall, the small animations, interactive aircraft, and videos make it a great dynamic and interactive website.
And to top it all, the website uses a mix of white and blue colors, which is synonymous with air travel!
